Lia Manoliu was a Romanian discus thrower who competed in six consecutive Olympic Games from 1952 to 1972. She won the gold medal in the discus throw at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Manoliu’s longevity and consistency in the sport made her one of the most successful female discus throwers in history. Her achievements brought her widespread recognition, and she remains a celebrated figure in Romanian sports history.
